Our employees individually and our company collectively put a tremendous amount of effort into helping the local Plymouth and wider community. Our charity efforts for the organisations that are dear to us are frequent and we feel proud to do our little bit wherever we can!
You may have spotted our charity stories on our facebook page or here in our news section but our latest outstretched hand was offered by Peter Russell our Managing Director. Peter kindly offered a colour printer to Horrabridge Sea Scouts group where his son Stefan attends.
Peter says: “i believe it is very important to put into the community as a business. We had a perfectly good working printer that was surplus to requirement and when i realised that we could make a difference to the Scouts, and therefore to the local community, I offered it to Allan who was very happy to take it.
Stefan gets a lot out of scouts in the form of different experiences – zip wiring; walking; games; shooting; archery; sailing etc – but also flew a plane earlier this year. He is learning citizenship, new skills and responsibility through these activities and through helping in the local community – they do lots of work for the community such as helping with the preparation and serving of Christmas meals for pensioners, raising money at the local summer fair, and bag packing at Morrisons. So lots of meeting new people, lots of different activities, learning new skills in order to earn his badges – all better than hanging round on street corners!”
It is fantastic to see that these sort of life skills and generosity are being nurtured in our kids today as they are so VERY important. From Peters point of view (and the rest of us), it makes perfect sense to support a community club that teaches children good morals, principles, generosity and how to have fun without playing on a Playstation!
We received a letter from Allan Yeo, the scout leader to Horrabridge Sea Scouts
“Thank you very much for the kind donation of the printer. We use the printer for a range of activities which include printing of group programmes, permission forms, newsletters, group activity sheets(especially for the younger sections), fundraising material and welcome packs. A lot of the resources we use from the scout website are in colour so it will be nice to actually be able to print them out in full colour. We will not be replacing the old printer as it prints double sided and is extremely economical so we will continue to use it for the heavy workloads and the one you have donated can be used for the things listed above. All our coloured printing in the past has been done in Tavistock at a yearly cost of around £150 so this will save us some money this year!”
