Night out with friends leaves man injured and in pain

In the summer of 2013, Mr R was enjoying a night out with friends at a nightclub in Brighton. As he was walking through the club Mr R slipped on a spillage and fell heavily to the ground sustaining injury to his right rib and shoulder. There were no warning signs present to alert clubbers to the spillage. A subsequent x ray showed a suspected fracture to Mr R’s shoulder and a brake to one of his ribs. Having been injured through no fault of his own Mr R approached Russell Worth for assistance in making a personal injury claim. Despite the nightclub denying responsibility for the claim, NM, our public liability specialist was undeterred and secured Mr R the £4,138.31 settlement to which he was entitled. On this occasion this meant attending Court, along with a barrister, where the Judge ruled in Mr R's favour. This settlement sum included compensation for his injury as well as additional financial expenses incurred as a result of the injury. Following the conclusion of the claim Mr R said: ‘Professional with excellent service. Excellent, fast and reliable service which was very important to me as my claim was handled by Russell Worth in the UK and I'm Irish. There was always an extremely fast turnaround on any queries and all staff showed a high standard of professionalism, knowledge and friendliness. I would have no qualms in recommending this firm to anyone with a legal need.’

Long battle won for client who slipped on drain cover

Just before Christmas in 2013 Mrs S was walking along the high street when she slipped on a slippery and dangerous drain cover. Mrs S attended hospital and discovered that she had sustained ligament damage to her left foot. Mrs S was unable to weight bear for 2/3 weeks following the fall and this greatly impacted on her enjoyment of the Christmas period. However, fortunately, after 8 weeks Mrs S was fully recovered. In January of 2014 Mrs S approached Russell Worth and our public liability specialist, SC, ensured that Mrs S received the compensation she was entitled to. It was not a straightforward process however with South West Water not taking responsibly for the accident at any point during the claim. SC issued Court proceedings to put pressure on the Defendant who agreed, after some 18 months to award Mrs S £1800 for her pain and suffering. Commenting on the case Mrs S said; ‘Accident claim. The work that Russell Worth did on my behalf was excellent, they were able to make my claim as easy as possible for me and with a good outcome. Many thanks.’ SC said the following; ‘I was pleased to assist Mrs S in her claim for compensation. The process was, at times, frustrating with neither the local Council nor South West Water willing to take responsibility for the dangerous drain cover. However, undeterred, after a hard fought battle I was able to secure a positive result for Mrs S and secure her the compensation to which she was entitled.’

Road Traffic Accident Case Studies

Client Awarded Compensation Following Road Traffic Accident

Our specialist Road Traffic Accident team were keen to assist Miss A following an accident when the vehicle she was driving was struck from behind whilst stationary. Miss A experienced pain in her neck, shoulder and chest following the accident for which she was awarded £2,820.00. MS, our Road Traffic Accident Specialist, who dealt with the claim on behalf of Miss A ensured that she received the correct level of compensation by arranging for her to meet with an independent medical expert who prepared a report in relation to her injuries. Commenting on the case MS said ‘This was a relatively straightforward case where we were able to secure an early admission of responsibility from the defendant’s insurance company and compensation followed quickly once we received the medical report supporting Miss A’s injuries’. Miss A commenting on her claim stated the following, ‘Brilliant quick service Quick response from start to finish and also offered advice of routes to take and not just what they thought I should do. Would definitely (hope I don't have to) use again.’

Settlement for man after defendant drives into the back of his car

S came to Russell Worth in July 2014 following being involved in a road traffic accident. S, who was a passenger in a stationary vehicle at red traffic lights was injured when the driver of another vehicle drove straight into the back of the car he was in. Less than a month after NG, Russell Worth’s road traffic accident specialist, took on the case an admission of responsibility was received from the other driver’s insurance company. Following the accident S suffered with whiplash type injuries together with shock. As well as his sleep being severely affected following the incident, for a time S found it difficult to manage his personal care, carry out domestic chores and lift heavy items. S’s leisure activities were also affected as he was unable to attend the gym, box and partake in aerobics for a time following the incident. S received an award of £3,935 for pain and suffering which included a sum for majority payment of physiotherapy and travel costs attending the appointments. Speaking of his experience of the claim process S said ‘This was my first foray into seeking compensation for personal injury, and on the recommendation of a friend I decided to try Russell Worth. I cannot fault the team that dealt with my claim; N and R were both helpful and always polite, but also managed to secure me a fair settlement in a quite speedy time..’
